Despite the destruction brought by ‘Ondoy’ last weekend APT Entertainment’s Yaya and Angelina: The Spoiled Brat Movie still grossed P34M on its opening week.
According to reports, the comedy earned higher than Spring Film’s Kimmy Dora which had had a P30M opening week. Bubble Gang tandem Michael V. and Ogie Alcasid together with APT Entertainment executives are now celebrating because of the success of their movie.
The movie continuously earns more income today since its opening week. Some says that if ‘Ondoy’ did not come, the movie would have grossed even more than P34M.
Gary Valenciano is having a two-night concert entitled “Back Home” on La Salle Greenhills’ celebration of its 50th Anniversary at the Bro. Rafael Donato Center for the Performing Arts this coming June 5 and 8. This one will be the culmination event for the said anniversary called Sing-Kwenta. For Gary, it’s not just about paying homage to his alma mater but his way of giving back through his music, too.
Gary V. is an inspirational man and there’s no doubt about how he had shared that inspiration over the past 25 years he’s in the music industry, both through his songs and through his life as well. Joining him in the concert are his fellow LSGH alumni Ogie Alcasid, Rannie Raymundo, Carlo Orosa, Dingdong Avanzado, Louie Ocampo, The Tux and his children Gabriel, Paolo, and Kiana.
This concert is also a fundraising event for two charitable projects of La Salle Greenhills namely, the Bahay Pag-asa and the One La Salle Scholarship Fund. Bahay Pag-asa helps rehabilitate street children, while the latter aims to raise one billion peso scholarship funds for 18 DLS schools in the country by 2011.
Ogie Acasid’s latest album ‘The Great Filipino Song Book’ gained him a platinum award after it sold more than 20,000 copies. This occasion took place last Sunday at SOP courtesy of Universal Records.
Ogie may be one of the talented, most requested singer-composers in our times. He has around 70 and counting trophies and awards to date because of his album’s sales volume from various award-giving bodies.
One good thing about Ogie is that he remains humble and always had the comedic persona that keeps you smiling inside even you intend to be emotional with his songs. Quite a feat as you can think so, but somehow maybe a part of his happy and successful life with his profession and family. Not to mention having the Asia’s Song Bird, Regine Velasquez by his side. 😉
