Manny Pacquiao Wins by TKO over Miguel Cotto in 12 Rounds

Manny Pacquiao proved he’s the pound-for-pound King of the Ring once more as he toppled off Miguel Cotto in their match-up dubbed as Firepower: Pacquiao VS Cotto at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas Nevada.

Cotto’s supporters were right in one thing though, he’ll push the bout up to 12 rounds. It’s just that coach Freddie Roach is also right that Manny’s got the speed and in perfect shape to knockout the Puerto Rican champ. Pacman actually manage to outwit and outpunch Cotto to be knocked down three times.

The two great fighters actually gave their best shot, but there’s only gonna be one left standing. Manny Pacquiao now holds the first boxer to garner seven title belts in seven weight divisions. Now, Bob Arum’s job is to get a fight with Floyd Mayweatherman Jr.

But for now, celebration has got to be in place for Team Pacquiao and the land of the mighty… Mabuhay ka Pilipinas! …at Mabuhay ka Manny Pacquiao! Kami’y kasama mo!

Watch FirePower: PACQUIAO VS COTTO Fight Live

Manny Pacquiao VS Miguel Cotto will unleash a historic bout of epic proportions at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday night of the 14th of November (Sunday morning of November 15, Manila time).

Pacquiao, having won six world titles in six weight divisions and regarded by many as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world will face-off with the WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto to snatch away the title belt and finally seal the record of the first fighter to have won seven titles in seven weight divisions.

Cotto is regarded as a very powerful and dangerous boxer, having fought well as an inverted southpaw with his lethal left hook ready to knockout. He is considered as a natural, solid welterweight that may cause Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao to struggle a bit. One of the things that coach Roach would consider to what would prevent Pacquiao from winning is if he allows his back cornered on the ropes and eventually be beaten up. Some insiders and world-renowned fighters got an impression of the fight pushed to a decision that would favor Miguel Cotto and would result to a devastating upset for the Filipino challenger.

However, Manny is at his perfect shape and have emerged as a better defensive fighter as also revealed by coach Freddie Roach. Boxing enthusiasts, experts, world title-holder fighters and majority of the world are very confident and bet on Pacquiao’s lightning speed punches that would knockout the Puerto Rican champion in the seventh or eight round.

Whatever the outcome, it’ll be one of the greatest fights the world would ever remember. It’ll be grand and humbling for both fighters and the country they represent.

FirePower: Pacquiao VS Cotto will go LIVE on Solar Sports and GMA-7 on a delayed telecast. Live video streaming will be through PLDT MyDSL Watchpad, SOPCAST LIVE and online pay-per-view as links follow below.

Manny Pacquiao’s Running For Congress In Sarangani On 2010 Elections

Manny Pacquiao’s political party, People’s Champ Movement formally filed a petition to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for their recognition of the poll body last May 4. Manny actually expressed his decision to run as a Congressman for the Sarangani province.

Manny Pacquiao\'s Running For Congress In Sarangani On 2010 Elections

Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao was introduced by Michael Buffer on his last 2-round KO fight against Ricky Hatton, as “the man of Sarangani, Philippines.” Many fans and friends have somehow wondered then why Sarangani, when Pacquiao has always been introduced as from his root province, General Santos City.

Pacquiao already ran last 2007 also for Congress in General Santos City, but eventually lost to Darlene Antonio-Custodio by around 37,000 votes. However, last December 2007 after his win from “The Dream Match” against Oscar Dela Hoya, he actually announced his intentions of getting into politics again by 2010 as a hopeful Congressman of Sarangani.

Back then, many fans expressed delight when he lost the 2007 elections in General Santos City because of much expectation from our Pambansang Kamao, wanting Pacquiao to still fight on the ring. Even the Commission on Election chairman, Rene Sarmiento somehow don’t approve because Pacquiao right now does not just hold the No.1 Pound-for-Pound title but represents as an icon of unity among the Filipinos.

In someway, Manny Pacquiao into politics may instill something ‘divisive’ or tarnish the unifying effect he is resembling to our nation. But, who knows what the man can do and what he can’t do? Not unless, he’ll just let some strings pull him with his every move. Then, not so fast… Manny boy. 😉

Floyd Mayweather Jr. Returns: First Marquez, Then Bring Down Pacquiao

Floyd Mayweather Jr. announced his return last March 18, 2009 from his retirement from boxing and much high-lighted after watching Manny Pacquiao reigned supreme over Ricky Hatton and snatched away two belts, the IBO and Ring Magazine Light Welterweight, May 2, 2009 at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. Returns: First Marquez, Then Bring Down Pacquiao

The last title fight of Pretty Boy Floyd is also with its reign over the Hitman last December 8, 2007 on the same place, MGM Grand, Las Vegas Nevada, though it took him 10 rounds to secure the welterweight belt.

May 2, 2009 is the day the world stood still, at least for the Hatton fans as they witnessed its fall in a 2nd round TKO in a fight with the invincible Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao. Floyd Mayweather Sr., Hatton’s personal trainer was very disappointed that he even said that Ricky “Hitman” Hatton should settle to retire.

Right now, the next fight to see is Floyd Mayweather Jr. VS Manuel Marquez this July 18, 2009. Manuel Marquez got two fights with Manny Pacquiao before with the first one a draw and a KO on the second. He wants to fight the Pacman on the third time but denied the chance of the comeback. Now both Floyd Jr. and Marquez have their reasons to prove who’s a better contender to fight on Pacquiao.

The question is, will we ever witness the Fight of the Century between Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. VS Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao as to crown who’s really the No.1 Pound-For-Pound Boxer of The World or we’ll just watch the greatest upset as Manuel Marquez push Floyd Jr. back to retirement and get an elusive comeback fight instead? We’ll find out soon. 😉
