Gary Valenciano: “Back Home” Concert On La Salle Greenhills’ 50th Anniversary

Gary Valenciano is having a two-night concert entitled “Back Home” on La Salle Greenhills’ celebration of its 50th Anniversary at the Bro. Rafael Donato Center for the Performing Arts this coming June 5 and 8. This one will be the culmination event for the said anniversary called Sing-Kwenta. For Gary, it’s not just about paying homage to his alma mater but his way of giving back through his music, too.

Gary V. is an inspirational man and there’s no doubt about how he had shared that inspiration over the past 25 years he’s in the music industry, both through his songs and through his life as well. Joining him in the concert are his fellow LSGH alumni Ogie Alcasid, Rannie Raymundo, Carlo Orosa, Dingdong Avanzado, Louie Ocampo, The Tux and his children Gabriel, Paolo, and Kiana.

This concert is also a fundraising event for two charitable projects of La Salle Greenhills namely, the Bahay Pag-asa and the One La Salle Scholarship Fund. Bahay Pag-asa helps rehabilitate street children, while the latter aims to raise one billion peso scholarship funds for 18 DLS schools in the country by 2011.

Liezel Back To Being The Star Scholar

Grand Jury Louie Ocampo got to give it to Liezel as the darling princess of the 7th Gala Night for her outstanding performance! She scored 9.67 enough to be the Star Scholar, beating Laarni scoring 8.0 with their one-on-one competition.

Together with Laarni were Bunny, Miguel, Van and Apple who lost and automatically went to bottom five for possible expulsion. Though the Dream Mentors already saved Bunny, another scholar will be announced soon as the scholar’s pick to stay in the academy.

The night was best so far for these scholars. Bugoy gave a church-like atmosphere but his voice quality and texture gave his rendition of “Nakapagtataka” a memorable one. Another notable performance was from Laarni and Poy’s duet. The two really got their voices high enough to impress the juries. Though Poy got a little intimidated with Laarni’s commanding confidence, both of them really pulled off an outstanding performance.

And not to leave the night cold, Cris really heated it up, singing “It’s Raining Men” as she takes off much of her clothes… whew! Even jury Jimmy Bondoc can’t hold much of his excitement! =)
