Gary Valenciano is having a two-night concert entitled “Back Home” on La Salle Greenhills’ celebration of its 50th Anniversary at the Bro. Rafael Donato Center for the Performing Arts this coming June 5 and 8. This one will be the culmination event for the said anniversary called Sing-Kwenta. For Gary, it’s not just about paying homage to his alma mater but his way of giving back through his music, too.
Gary V. is an inspirational man and there’s no doubt about how he had shared that inspiration over the past 25 years he’s in the music industry, both through his songs and through his life as well. Joining him in the concert are his fellow LSGH alumni Ogie Alcasid, Rannie Raymundo, Carlo Orosa, Dingdong Avanzado, Louie Ocampo, The Tux and his children Gabriel, Paolo, and Kiana.
This concert is also a fundraising event for two charitable projects of La Salle Greenhills namely, the Bahay Pag-asa and the One La Salle Scholarship Fund. Bahay Pag-asa helps rehabilitate street children, while the latter aims to raise one billion peso scholarship funds for 18 DLS schools in the country by 2011.
Francis Magalona’s family held the last wake tonight at Christ the King Main Chapel at Green Meadows together with relatives and close friends. The fans and a lot of people, artists, politicians and ‘mga kababayan’ who have been influenced with Francis’ music and life have taken part of his funeral.
The likes of Imelda Marcos, Joseph Estrada, Cory Aquino and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan have shown up during the day. Ely Buendia, Allan K., Vic Sotto, Joey De Leon, Pia Guanio never missed their opportunity to be with their beloved and much missed friend.
Francis’ necrological services was headed by his wife, Pia and 8 of his children, along with close friends Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez, Michael V. and Gary Valenciano who offered their heartfelt farewell songs. Videos and eulogies has been rendered as well.
Francis Magalona’s life has been well lived and his death made so much impact that it moved a country to shed a million tears and felt a place that wouldn’t be the same again without his voice and presence.
It was really a surprise! Gary, Mr. Pure Energy himself got to have the chance to inspire and encourage the dream scholars. You can actually sense his sincerity to share his heart, passionate love for music, and his excitement to be with new talents.
He also got the chance to help look at Bunny’s sugar level and even prayed for her. That’s classic don’t you think? Saying some words with closed eyes doesn’t mean something magical will about to happen.
As he share his songs to the scholars, you can’t miss their eyes to be pinned down to him. Billy Crawford’s presence didn’t even mattered for them even for a sec… Capturing moments for these scholars are definitely a must for them to have. It will also allow them to remember always to express their hearts, pursue their dreams and to impart it every time they have a chance to sing another song. =)
