For the last 30 years of Gary Granada’s musical legacy and national influence, his latest ordeal with GMA Kapuso Foundation and Proctor & Gamble is not just about to get away easily and now unleashed throughout the web. Gary Granada’s recorded grievance against these media and corporate giants has snowballed from Plurk, Twitter, emails and even picking up from blog after blogs showing both sentiments and support.
As you can listen from the recording, GMA Kapuso Foundation has commissioned Gary Granada to make a jingle out of the lyrics they have provided. When the final study or musical piece has been submitted to GMA after lyrics revisions and musical structure was laid down, it was rejected and contracted to another composer instead. However, the supposedly new composition aired by GMA was allegedly based on and took advantage of Gary’s final study and he wasn’t asked for permission or even got claims.
The whole case story Gary Granada have brought up not only summons to validate and support him to not allow these giants to get away with their simple “compose collectively” switcheroo but to further protect the rights of commissioned artists, composers and lyricists to be not taken advantaged of or ran down.
Gary Granada may have this downturn but he’s known so much of his candid humor of making a come back to lighten things up, though in a powerful, passionate way of bringing things to light or in justice. You should hear his songs like ‘Bahay’ or ‘Pag Natatalo Ang Ginebra.’ And you would want to hear his love songs as well like ‘Kapag Sinabi Ko Sa Iyo’ and ‘Iisa.’
Hey Gary, I actually thought that you’ve just made a song about this thing. It would be a sure hit, though! To your campaign bro!
