Former President Corazon “Cory” Cojuangco Aquino just passed away this early morning at the age of 76.
Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III confirmed that their mother peacefully died due to cardio-respiratory arrest this early morning, August 1, 2009 at 3:18 am at the Makati Medical Center.
Cory Aquino has been diagnosed of colon cancer early 2008, confined to Makati Medical Center and had gone through a series of chemo-therapy till this year. Her family, specially her five children have never left her alone since then, that her passing away this morning just left them crying quietly.
Her passing away has displayed a mark of strength and tenacity as it was back when she stood up, led and fought for our country’s freedom and democracy back in 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution. She was truly an icon of democracy that all of the Filipinos will truly remember.
Senator Aquino III further stated this morning:
“She would have wanted to thank each and every one of you for all the prayers and your continued love and support. It was her wish for all of us to pray for one another and for our country.
“Hinihiling po ng aming pamilya ang kaunting panahon para makasama namin ang aming mahal na ina.
“Later today, we will be announcing further details of her wake para sa lahat ng ating mga minamahal na kababayan na nais magbigay ng respeto sa aming ina. Maraming salamat po.”
“Are You The Next Big Star?” Circle of 16 is now down to 12 as another pair of talents got picked out by the judges to leave the talent search this early in the competition. Shane Tarun, 16 yrs old from Isabela and Anton Cruz, also 16 from Novaliches, QC sort of failed to hit the mark to at least save them from the judges’ bottom list.
Shane and Anton were part of the bottom six last week, though now they’re together with Christine Allado, Alexa Ortega, PJ Gonzales and the old timer bottom 3 last week Greggy Santos. Greggy actually gave a very charming impression on his performance but still not enough to get himself out from the under cards. Cara Quiapos on the other hand, pulled it off to get herself not just out of the girls’ bottom 3 list last week but even gave the best performance as noted by the judges.
Right now, the 2 boys and 2 girls that remain on the bottom list are still not safe to continue on the contest for next week. However, two of them will surely have the chance to get back on their feet and push through. The good thing is you have a chance to vote for your favorite Next Big Star.
You can text via the following format and send to 2344 for Globe, TM and Sun Cellular subscribers; and to 367 for Smart and Talk ‘N Text subscribers.
